The Office of Technology Transfer protects, manages and maximizes the value of the Hospital's intellectual property by identifying and evaluating novel research discoveries that may be developed into commercial products, facilitating the intellectual property protection of discoveries through the patenting process, and working with inventors and commercial partners to introduce discoveries to the marketplace. Technology Transfer also oversees corporate-supported research collaborations, including clinical trial agreements, sponsored research agreements, as well as other research agreements for scholarly activities that have no funding attached (corporate or otherwise), such as confidential disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, data use agreements, collaborative research agreements. In addition, the office works with Compliance related to the review of faculty consulting agreements. The group ensures that current and potential partners from the pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology and venture capital communities are aware of the Hospital's science and research activities, technologies available for licensing and opportunities for research collaboration and identifies sources for corporate-sponsored research and start-up company opportunities.
